This teacher training workshop equips teachers with the knowledge and skills to systematically investigate and address classroom challenges through action research. Participants will learn how to identify instructional problems, design and implement context-appropriate interventions, and use systematic inquiry to improve teaching practices and student learning outcomes. Additionally, this workshop introduces teachers to qualitative research methods that can be applied in action research to examine classroom experiences and instructional practices. Participants will learn how to select appropriate qualitative research designs, collect and analyze qualitative data, and interpret findings to generate meaningful insights that inform evidence-based improvements in teaching and learning.
At the end of the Qualitative Research Methods workshop, the participants will be able to:
Distinguish qualitative research from quantitative research by identifying appropriate qualitative research questions, designs, sampling strategies, and data collection methods for different research problems.
Differentiate the major qualitative research methods based on their purpose, methodology, and appropriate application to research problems.
Analyze a qualitative dataset using thematic analysis by generating initial codes, organizing them into categories, and developing coherent themes supported by textual evidence.
Produce brief qualitative findings report that presents identified themes with appropriate participant quotations which demonstrates adherence to ethical and trustworthiness standards in qualitative research.
